The Ocilla City Council approved a $20,000 loan from the City of Ocilla's Revolving Loan Fund to Mrs. Jessica Bentley, owner of The After Glow Salon and Spa, on June 21.
Mayor Horace Hudgins reported the Revolving Loan Fund Committee "recommends loaning Mrs. Jessica Bentley owner of The After Glow Salon and Spa $20,000.00 for 5 years with the interest rate of 4%." Councilwoman Claire Clayton-Stone moved to approve the loan, Councilman Lemora Moses seconded, and the motion included the condition that the City of Ocilla RLF be the first lienholder.
The council recorded four yes votes and one opposing vote from Councilwoman Patrice Y.W. Manley; the motion was recorded as carried and the loan approved pending lien confirmation. The approval directs staff to complete the loan-closing steps consistent with the council's condition.
The loan is intended to support a local small business; no other financing terms beyond the five-year, 4% rate and the first-lien requirement were specified in the public record. The council did not provide additional details about disbursement timing or monitoring conditions at the meeting.
