At its June 17 special meeting the Bridge Board of Education approved a package of operational contracts and a workers' compensation settlement.
Workers' compensation: After an executive-session discussion, the board approved a workers' compensation settlement for an employee identified in the transcript as D. Jasco. The motion to approve the settlement was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote in open session.
Landscape services: Staff reported seven bids for districtwide landscaping; the current vendor submitted the lowest bid. Discussion included which smaller schools would be maintained internally by the district logistics team. Staff stated the total seasonal cost discussed for districtwide landscaping was about $240,852; the board approved the landscape services contract by voice vote.
Black Rock exterior doors: The board received bids to replace eight exterior doors in the older portion of the Black Rock facility. Staff recommended FRP doors (the district standard) and said the project would be completed over the summer. The board awarded the contract to the recommended low bidder and approved moving forward.
Solid waste and recycling collection: Staff said three respondents met requirements; after negotiations the locally based vendor Envir Express was selected and presented an all-inclusive annual price (covering equipment, tipping fees and pickups) of $590,000. Board members confirmed that the selected vendor is the lowest bidder after negotiation and voted to approve the selection.
Several votes were taken by voice; the transcript logs names and motions for each item but does not include complete roll-call tallies for all votes. Staff noted the rationale for selections included prior work with district facilities, service-level improvements over the previous vendor and overall cost considerations.
