Wadena-Deer Creek board approves 2025 meeting dates, funds, hires and donations

The board unanimously approved the district's 2025 regular monthly meeting schedule and named the Wadena Pioneer Journal as the official publication. It designated Wadena State Bank, the Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund and MN Trust as official depositories.
By unanimous motion the board authorized the Business Manager, Senior Bookkeeper, Student Activity Administrative Assistant and Payroll Clerk to use facsimile signatures for properly approved payments, to make wire transfers and to invest school funds with designated institutions. The board also named Superintendent Lee Westrum, Business Manager Brian Jacobson, Elementary Principal Louis Rutten and Senior Bookkeeper Megan Martin as official representatives for Title I, Title II, Title IV and other federal programs.
Personnel actions approved unanimously included hires for paraprofessional, custodial, transportation, library and coaching positions and the acceptance of several resignations; lane changes for four employees were also approved.
The board approved manual journal entries and disbursements: vendor checks #47008-47255 totaling $467,051.68, credit card payments of $8,458.94 and student activity checks #23357-23377 totaling $26,928.81. The board accepted donations totaling $5,275 (listed by donor and purpose in the minutes).
No dissenting votes or public objections were recorded in the minutes.
