Walnut Grove officials and township representatives approved the city's 2025 ambulance and fire budgets at a special meeting Thursday, Feb. 26, 2025, at the Walnut Grove Fire Hall.
Ambulance Director Kristy Baker reported that after reviewing 2024 revenues and expenses, the ambulance department will not ask townships for increased contributions for 2025; the contribution for 2025 remains $180 per section. Fire Chief Andy Foster presented the 2025 fire budget, which sets the 2025 fire contract at $200 per section for fire protection and $100 per section for vehicle replacement, with the City matching those contributions.
The department indicated it will request an additional $50 per section for the 2026 fire contract. Meeting participant Daryl Knakmuhs moved to approve the $50 increase per section for 2026; Rich VanMoer seconded. The motion carried, with all voting in favor; individual votes were not specified in the minutes.
After motions on the proposed funding, Bob Zwach moved, and Daryl Knakmuhs seconded, to approve the Ambulance and Fire Budgets for 2025. That motion also carried with all voting in favor; the minutes do not list individual vote tallies.
