Mayor Ron Stubbe called the Walnut Grove City Council to order at 6 p.m. on Jan. 13, 2025, and City Clerk Paula McGarvey administered the Oath of Office to Ron Stubbe (mayor), Sue West (council), Dylan Albertson (council) and Dale Shannon (council). The council reviewed orientation materials and agreed to a special meeting on Jan. 23 to review city positions and job duties.
The council reviewed the city’s 2025 appointments — which assigned department and committee responsibilities, the official depository and newspaper, and named the city attorney and engineer. The list presented included assignments such as City Office/EMS Coordinator: Ron Stubbe and Yeng Yang; Community Center and Cemetery: Dylan Albertson and Sue West; and City Engineer: Bolten & Menk. Sue West moved to approve the appointments with Yeng Yang seconding; the motion passed unanimously.
Council members then considered budget certification. After closing the Truth in Taxation public hearing, Mayor Ron Stubbe moved, with Layne Wiborg seconding, to approve Resolution 2024-1209 certifying the 2025 budget. The council voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
The approvals taken at the meeting set leadership roles and finalize the city’s fiscal plan for 2025. The council adjourned after approving claims and minutes from prior meetings; a special orientation meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2025.
