Walnut Grove to seek Small Cities and PFA funds for sewer project; public hearing set for March 31

Mayor Ron Stubbe opened the Walnut Grove City Council meeting on March 10, 2025 and heard a presentation from consultant Owen Todd of Bolton & Menk on proposed sewer project plans and funding options. Todd said the city will apply to the Small Cities Development Program and to the Public Facilities Authority (PFA) for project funding; he read a conflict-of-interest statement and stated that "none of the council will have a conflict with the project."
The council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2025-0310, which adopts the city's Citizen Participation Plan and formally calls a public hearing on the Small Cities application for March 31, 2025 at 6 p.m. at the city offices. Council Member Dale Shannon made the motion and Council Member Sue West seconded; all council members voted in favor.
City staff also reported that the clerk has completed a grant application for part two of the lead service line inventory and that Bolton & Menk was selected to complete that inventory; the council approved the application. The public hearing will give residents an opportunity to comment on the Small Cities application before the city finalizes grant materials.
