Staff confirmed the new project manager for phase 2 will prepare an engagement plan and that the commission may reach out to Warner Cook to provide background. Commissioners asked the working group to consider drafting the working group's recommendations into an ordinance-ready format so council can more easily act on them.
Members discussed timing: an engagement strategy is expected to be presented in August and the broader package may need to be wrapped before the end of the year, leaving a tight timeline. Commissioners recommended that the working group contact the project manager and compile points and questions in advance so the commission’s expertise informs the engagement strategy rather than appearing as a late-stage checkbox.
No final policy votes were taken on phase 2 at the meeting; commissioners agreed to continue work and request law’s written feedback and staff engagement with the working group.
