The City Council approved a request to extend the construction schedule for the Mountaintops water system improvements project.
Staff explained that when the project was first bid only one company responded at a price nearly $2 million higher than expected; the project was rebid and the rebidding process cost roughly two months. To accommodate the delay, the contractor asked to extend the completion window from 210 days to up to 360 days. Staff recommended approving the extension with no change to the contract amount.
Council moved, seconded and approved the time extension in a roll-call vote. Staff said the project is scheduled to start in January and the additional time would be added to the end of the schedule; no additional funds were requested.
The motion passed and the council recorded yes votes during the roll call.
