At the Jan. 13 meeting the Arcade City Council authorized the mayor to execute documents required for city participation in the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System (GMEBS) defined benefit retirement plan.
Council Member Ron Smith moved to authorize the mayor to sign the Ordinance and Adoption Agreement of the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System Defined Benefit Retirement Plan; Council Member Cindy Bone seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council then separately authorized the mayor to sign the Trust Agreement for the GMEBS plan; that motion likewise passed unanimously.
The minutes record the authorizations but do not include plan terms, employer contribution rates, or implementation timelines. City staff follow-up will be required to implement the plan and communicate enrollment details to affected employees.
