Littleton board approves instructional and work calendars for 2026–28

The Littleton Elementary School District governing board approved instructional calendars for 2026–27 and 2027–28 and accepted work calendars for certified, classified, 11-month and 12-month employees. Administration said the 2026–27 calendar moves the first staff inservice day to Thursday, Sept. 3 so classified staff can attend full-day professional learning. The 2026–27 student start date is the last week of July (Littleton starts July 29) and the last student day is May 27; fall and winter breaks, testing recesses and other holidays were described and approved.
The 2027–28 instructional calendar was presented to align with Talison Union High School where possible; notable changes include fall break Oct. 11–15 and a last student day of May 24. The board also approved work calendars for multiple employee groups that cover orientation, staggered inservice days, paid holidays and compressed work weeks; the presentation included detail on paid holidays and staff inservice schedules.
Board members raised a question about offering an election-day holiday; administration said adding that holiday would require shifting start/end dates to maintain overall alignment with Talison. Following motions and seconding, the calendars were approved by voice vote.
