Administration said the draft policy follows Arizona School Boards Association guidance and would delegate specifics to a handbook committee composed of parents, teachers and administrators. That committee is scheduled to meet on Feb. 19 to draft the detailed dress-code language; administrators said final handbook language would return to the board for approval in March or April.
Trustees emphasized the need for a clear transition and robust communication to families, noting Littleton is a Title I district and many families purchase uniforms for cost or convenience. Board members asked for a transition plan, outreach to PTAs, staff training and possible town-hall meetings to help families prepare for the change and reduce unintended burdens.
Administration said existing casual dress-day language and samples from other districts would be a starting point for the committee, and that families would be notified once the board approves the policy and the committee finishes handbook definitions.
No vote was taken; the item remains at first reading and will return for final action after committee work and additional board review.
