Warroad council accepts OEMS grant, authorizes engineering work and approves special-event permits

At its Jan. 12 meeting the Warroad City Council approved several items affecting public safety, utilities and community events.
Councilor Michele Vandal moved and Councilor Dean Dorholt seconded approval of Resolution 2026-01 to accept an OEMS grant as presented; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record the resolution by number but do not specify the grant amount.
The council also authorized signing an engineering agreement with Widseth for a pond expansion and a No Loss Wetland application at a cost of $2,500. That motion passed unanimously. Councilors voted to authorize sending delinquent utility accounts and delinquent ambulance/fire-call accounts to collection as presented; both collection actions carried unanimously.
Warroad Community Development representative Sarah Carling provided an update on WCD projects and asked councilors to complete a brief survey rating various projects.
The council approved a special-event application for the Yellow Rose Race on Aug. 8, 2026 at Allison Park, an exempt-permit raffle for the Warroad Memorial Arena Association on Feb. 10, 2026, and a bingo exempt-permit for the Warroad Women of Today on Feb. 26, 2026 at the Hampton Inn. Each event motion was moved by Councilor Vandal, seconded by Councilor Dorholt and approved unanimously.
Several scheduling items (2026 council meeting calendar and committee/commission schedules) were discussed and received no action at the meeting. The council adjourned at 5:08 p.m.
