Walker council approves two part-time liquor-store hires and a raffle permit

At its Oct. 17 meeting, the Walker City Council approved two personnel hires and an exempt gambling permit.
Councilmember Jim Senenfelder moved and Councilmember Char Moore seconded approval to hire Lisa Anderley as a part-time Liquor Store Clerk at a starting wage of $14.50 an hour, with a 3% wage increase following a successful six-month probationary period. The motion passed on a roll call vote: Ayes: Mary Beth Hansen, Char Moore, Jim Senenfelder, Gary Wilkening and Jerecho Worth (5-0).
Senenfelder and Moore then moved and seconded approval to hire Janice Pfarr in the same part-time Liquor Store Clerk position at the same starting wage and probationary increase; that motion similarly passed on a 5-0 roll call.
The council also approved a Minnesota Lawful Gambling exempt-permit application for Forgotten Heroes Ranges & Retreat to conduct a raffle on Nov. 3, 2024, at the Chase on the Lake Resort (502 Cleveland Avenue West); the motion passed on a 5-0 roll call.
The minutes record the hires, wage terms and the raffle date and location. Later in the meeting the council entered a closed session to perform the City Administrator's annual performance evaluation; the council said it would summarize conclusions at its next regular meeting on Nov. 4, 2024.
