The approval came at the start of a meeting that focused on a consultant-led corporationwide staffing and finance study. Consultant Randy McCracken told the board the district faces “roughly a $4 million budget gap” and that the study identifies about $3.5 million in potential savings from staffing consolidations and contract changes. “These are not things that… you have to take and do,” McCracken said, adding the board and administration will decide which recommendations to implement.
Board members said the contract vote cleared the way to consider the consultants’ recommendations. “We’re going to make some tough choices,” Mr. Bacon said, thanking the presenters and urging the community’s support as the board pursues a balanced budget.
