Waldorf council adopts Waseca County hazard‑mitigation resolution; approves routine business

WALDORF, Minn. — The Waldorf City Council on Feb. 9 unanimously adopted Resolution 2026‑001 to endorse the Waseca County All‑Hazard Mitigation Plan, council records show. Carrie Ferch moved adoption and Missy Sorbo seconded; the motion passed 5–0.
The council also carried several routine actions at the start and close of the meeting. Members accepted the meeting agenda (motion by Missy Sorbo; second by Cody Schnepf; vote 5–0) and approved the consent agenda covering the Jan. 12 meeting minutes and bank and transfer reports (motion by Missy Sorbo; second Carrie Ferch; vote 5–0). Council approved removal of a dead tree at resident Dan McGannon’s property (motion by Missy Sorbo; second Carrie Ferch; vote 5–0).
During new business the council discussed whether to open a money market account with United Prairie to earn a higher interest rate; that item was tabled pending review of FDIC requirements. The meeting also reviewed a project list for 2025 (lighting project, upgrading street signs) with several items awaiting quotes.
The Fire Department requested council consideration of adding a generator for City Hall and the Fire Department after a Jan. 21 power outage left personnel unable to open the building to deploy vehicles and raised concerns about freezing fire trucks. The council tabled the generator request while it awaits two vendor quotes. Later in the meeting the Fire Department Report was approved, with Jamie Beckstrand moving and Missy Sorbo seconding; the recorded vote was 3–0 in favor with Council members Cody Schnepf and Carrie Ferch recorded as abstentions.
The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m. (motion by Carrie Ferch; second by Jamie Beckstrand; vote 5–0). Minutes were submitted by Sherri Sandry, City Clerk Treasurer.
