Consultants from the K12 Coalition described a structured five‑year strategic‑planning process to the Littleton Elementary School District board and staff, emphasizing stakeholder engagement, a data analysis phase and an accountable implementation plan.
Andrea Thomas Reynolds, managing director for strategic planning at K12 Coalition, said the group is a consortium that supports districts with recruitment, retention, professional learning and strategic planning and described a stepwise process that begins with aligning mission and vision, collecting survey and administrative data, convening a steering committee and defining measurable goals. "K12 Coalition is a consortium of several organizations that have come together to provide specialized support for schools," she said.
The consultants recommended a steering committee of roughly 25–30 members representing district leadership, school staff, students, parents and community partners, and they proposed a stakeholder survey open for about 10–15 days to surface priorities that will feed into goals and KPIs. Grant Guyer, a consultant who previously held leadership roles in Denver Public Schools, noted the district’s enrollment advantage and its significance for long‑range planning.
Board members questioned how steering‑committee members will be selected, how student and language‑accessible surveys will be conducted, and how the board will receive interim updates. Consultants and district staff said the process includes three board touchpoints and bi‑weekly check‑ins with the superintendent’s team; the firms anticipate a solid draft by late June and a final presentation for board adoption in July.
The board asked the administration to supply requested district data and to ensure broad, demographically representative participation in the steering committee and survey. Consultants said they will present sample plans and data‑analysis results to the committee as part of building consensus.
The district and consultants will begin steering‑committee selection following this board meeting, with consultant‑led steering‑committee work planned to begin on February 10 and a public presentation to the board slated for July 14.
