Wreaths Across America organizers invite volunteers for Dec. 14 ceremony at St. Bruno Cemetery

Pinckneyville — Marcia Hagene told the City Council on Nov. 12 that Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit that began in 1992 and incorporated in 2007, will mark Wreaths Across America Day at St. Bruno Cemetery on Dec. 14, 2024.
Hagene said fundraising and community outreach provided wreaths for all 169 veterans’ graves at St. Bruno Cemetery this year. She said the national organization placed more than 3 million wreaths on veterans’ graves nationwide last year. Volunteers are invited to meet at the cemetery at 11:00 a.m.; Hagene said the American Legion will be present for the ceremony. She noted Jane Chapman is organizing a similar event at Swanwick Cemetery.
Hagene thanked the city for its support and encouraged residents to consider starting similar ceremonies at other cemeteries next year.
