Shorewood mayor says police chief announced retirement; city to post position as staff give multiple operational updates

Public Works Director Morreim said staff had conducted utility training, the City had received a new street sweeper expected to be in service within weeks, and parks crews were preparing spring activities. Park and Recreation Manager Czech promoted the ongoing "Lucky's Pots O' Gold" campaign and said the city had issued an RFP for a Parks Master Plan; about eight firms expressed interest on an informational call.
Finance Director Schmuck said Shorewood received the Certificate of Achievement for Financial Excellence in Reporting for the 28th consecutive year, a national recognition for financial reporting. City Administrator Nevinski reported staff participation in regional discussions about e-bikes and that a set of state bills related to housing (similar to last year's "missing middle" proposals) had been introduced; he said the League of Minnesota Cities and Metro Cities are monitoring and testifying on those bills.
Mayor Labadie also said she attended a Mayors Forum with area mayors and several state legislators. Councilmember DiGruttolo asked about receiving regular legislative updates; she and others suggested adding notable state developments to future communications to the council and residents.
