Resident Yvette Mosenden told the Hanska City Council on Oct. 14 that she has been replacing water filters every two weeks, a change from roughly every three months previously, and asked what might be causing the increase.
Public Works staff Tauer responded that the city is working to fix the main well and is temporarily on a backup system that has been tested and passed. Tauer told the council he recently flushed fire hydrants and said that activity could be responsible for the increased frequency of filter clogging. Council members encouraged Mosenden to check whether neighbors are experiencing the same issue and to notify the city if there is no improvement or if the water quality problem continues.
The council did not take formal action on the matter during the meeting; the record indicates it was raised as public comment and that staff provided the procedural explanation and a possible technical cause. Follow-up would require residents to report continued problems to the clerk or public works so staff can investigate further.
