Hanover Park Board finalizes 2025 events lineup, discusses funding and amenities

The Hanover Park Board confirmed key elements of its 2025 events calendar at the Feb. 25 meeting and discussed funding options to cover event costs and related programming.
City Clerk and Assistant to the City Administrator Jenny Peterson told the board that all bands for the 2025 season have been booked and that Ski's Mobile Zoo is confirmed for Kids Night. Board members discussed purchasing supplies for the Easter Egg Hunt, contracting food trucks and assigning responsibilities for each event.
During Open Forum, residents Stephanie and Tom Gleason of 11875 Riverview Rd urged the board to consider more amenities for all ages, naming a dog park, a pickleball or tennis court, a splash park and outdoor fitness options. Board members included those ideas among the board’s stated goals and priorities for the year.
In reports, Peterson explained how the board can utilize funds from the Hanover Athletic Association and Hanover Lions gambling funds to finance events. The board also discussed updating event signage and advertising, enhancing the parks section of the city website, and establishing clearer channels for resident input.
The Park Board discussed the Adopt‑a‑Park program and plans for a spring clean‑up, including updates to the program brochure and signage and clarifying responsibilities for adoptees. No new business was raised. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
