The City of Hanover Economic Development Authority on Aug. 21 narrowed plans for a fall business social and approved modest funding for the event and promotional items.
City Administrator Jennifer Nash reported outreach to potential hosts River Inn and Big Bore; Hilltop is newly open and too small to host this year. EDA members agreed invitations should go to brick-and-mortar businesses in commercial and industrial zones, excluding in-home occupations unless they hold a conditional use permit allowing business activity at that location. The board narrowed event dates to Monday, Sept. 29 or Monday, Oct. 6, with an event window of 4–6 p.m.
John Ganfield agreed to coordinate with potential hosts and was allocated up to $2,000 for venue and refreshments. The board also voted to authorize purchase of up to $1,000 in promotional Yetis (substituting Yetis for previously approved coffee mugs) to encourage attendance. Jessica Johnson will send invitations once staff compiles a business email list.
