Hanover EDA narrows invite list for business social event, asks staff to seek hosts

Members of the Hanover Economic Development Authority on July 17 directed staff to narrow a preliminary list of more than 300 registered Hanover businesses to those located in commercial and industrial business districts inside city limits.
Jennifer Nash, Hanover city administrator, said the list — obtained from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office — included many home-based businesses. After discussion about the difficulty of narrowing in-home occupations and potential zoning compliance issues, the EDA instructed staff to produce an invite list limited to brick-and-mortar businesses in commercial or industrial zoning.
EDA members asked staff to inquire whether Big Bore would host the event on a Monday when it is normally closed and suggested staff also check whether the Hilltop property might be available if it opens in time. The group discussed possible event locations and logistics but did not record a formal motion beyond directing staff to compile the narrowed list and make contact with potential hosts.
The EDA will review the compiled invite list and report back to determine final guest lists and event details.
