Hanska council approves 2025 budget as city clerk announces resignation

HANSKA, Minn. — The Hanska City Council voted Aug. 12 to approve the city's proposed 2025 budget and to post a replacement for the City Clerk-Treasurer after Cinnamon Moldan announced her resignation.
City Clerk Cinnamon Moldan presented the budget to the council and told members she will resign, with her last full day as a city employee on Monday, Aug. 26; she said she will continue on a part-time basis to train the new clerk. Council member Geiger moved to approve the 2025 budget; Miller seconded and the motion passed.
The council instructed staff to advertise the clerk position at a wage range of $20 to $25 per hour depending on experience. Moldan also told the council that the city's current utility billing software will not function beginning in 2025 and that a new system will include additional charges the clerk will add to utility bills; no further technical details were provided at the meeting.
Mayor Daniel Vee asked whether surrounding townships had committed funds to support the library; Moldan said township support was included in the library budget. The council completed several routine consent items before adjourning at 7:17 p.m.
The council recorded the approval of the budget on a motion by Council member Geiger, seconded by Council member Miller; no vote tally was given in the meeting record.
