Hanover EDA approves routine business items, discusses staffing and 2025 goals

The City of Hanover Economic Development Authority convened Oct. 24, approved the meeting agenda and Aug. 15 minutes, reviewed financial reports and discussed staffing needs ahead of 2025 planning.
Chair Todd Bartels called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Treasurer Jessica Johnson reviewed the EDA special revenue fund and business incentive fund and reported that all loan payments are current. The board approved the accounts payable and financial reports on a motion by MaryAnn Hallstein, seconded by Jessica Johnson; the motion carried unanimously.
Hallstein prompted a discussion about the costs of staffing EDA-related work and the board discussed goals informed by a 2023 Design Team project and the idea of hosting a business social in 2024. Administrator Jennifer Nash told members that vacancies and staff turnover at City Hall in 2024 required some reassignment of duties and that a consultant the EDA hired in earlier years is no longer available because that consultant is now employed by a different firm. Members asked staff to bring materials to the next meeting to support goal-setting for 2025, including a Design Team recap, a commercial/industrial market study and updates on development activity.
No citizen forum comments were recorded. On a motion by Hallstein, seconded by Brian Dismang, the EDA adjourned at 9:33 a.m.; the motion carried and Jennifer Nash attested the meeting record.
