During presentation of the Draft Council Strategic Planning Report, Council Liaison Mike Amery noted the document is scheduled for City Council approval on April 1, 2025. Planning Commission member Chad Olson told the commission he would like the comprehensive plan placed on the CouncilHigh Priority list so the plan receives timely review.
Olson said that if placing the comprehensive plan on the High Priority list is not feasible, he recommended the City amend the ordinance governing the Planning Commission so it does not require a mandatory five-year comprehensive plan review or so that the time frame is removed altogether. The minutes record Olsonmaking this recommendation but do not record any formal motion, second, or commission vote on the suggestion.
The minutes do not record a council response, a staff commitment to change the ordinance, or a timeline for further action. Council Liaison Amery also recapped unrelated local items including a firefighter pinning, final plat approval for Oak Ridge and a Public Safety Committee discussion during the reports section of the meeting.
