Planning commission tables Brian Lee rezoning, citing possible missed mail notices

The City of Hanover Planning Commission on Dec. 23 tabled a request to amend the Comprehensive Plan and rezone a property tied to Brian Lee, citing concerns that some property owners may not have been notified of the hearing by mail.
City Planner Cindy Nash explained the developer is requesting to reguide the property from Multi-Family Residential to Industrial, which would change the Future Land Use Map and allow a different type of development than current guidance permits. Commissioners discussed I-2 industrial stipulations, interim use permit application requirements and design and fire-code considerations during the hearing.
Chair Stan Kolasa opened the public hearing at 7:02 p.m. and closed it at 7:26 p.m. After the hearing, Commissioner Jim Schendel moved to table the item until the Jan. 27, 2025 Planning Commission meeting because some property owners may not have been informed of the public hearing via mail; Commissioner Gretchen Barrett seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The tabled status means the commission will revisit the Comprehensive Plan amendment and rezoning at its Jan. 27 meeting. Any further documentation or notifications required for the hearing were not specified at the Dec. 23 meeting.
