Branford selectmen waive bids, award pump and storm-debris contracts

Selectman Raymond Dunbar moved to waive competitive bidding and award a contract to Fleet Pump & Service Group, Inc. for the purchase of a Flygt 45 HP submersible dry pit pump for the Damascus Road Pump Station in the amount of $64,195; Selectman Jeffrey E. Vailette seconded and the vote was unanimous. The purchase request was presented by Gino Carrano, Acting Superintendent, WPCF.
Selectman Dunbar also moved to waive the bid process and award a contract to Quantum Organics for the volume reduction of accumulated storm debris and tree-service work of wood-waste stockpiles located at the Tabor Drive property in an amount not to exceed $300,000. “Tyler Bowne reported that the revised proposal from Quantum Organics was $255,102 for the volume reduction work and the splitting of over-sized logs with materials left on site,” the minutes record. Selectman Vailette seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The minutes record the awarded pump make and spec (Flygt 45 HP submersible dry pit pump), the award amount for the pump, and the revised Quantum Organics proposal amount; they do not include vendor contracts or delivery and completion schedules.
