At the Oct. 3 meeting the Harmony EDA heard several routine community updates, including a Chamber of Commerce report, a downtown revitalization application deadline and a bike-trail construction update.
Erica Thilges, representing the Chamber of Commerce, reported that fall activities are under way and discussed scheduling a volunteer appreciation event. She noted that Chamber membership revenue is applied to the fiscal year for which it is received.
Staff advised that the Downtown Revitalization Program is accepting applications; applications are due Nov. 1, 2024 and will be presented to the EDA at the Nov. 7 meeting. Stuart Morem updated the board on the bike trail and said bidding is underway for the second phase of construction.
Cyndi Ofstedal urged the board to recognize and support the local school system, saying residents move to Harmony so grandchildren can attend the schools; Ron Zeigler added that economic development benefits when authorities adopt holistic objectives that include education. The board had no other business and adjourned at 8:14 AM.
