EDA hears TIF request and land-sale plans for Miners Underground

The Harmony Economic Development Authority held a public hearing on Oct. 3 on a proposed sale of 2.4 acres to Miners Underground and a related request for Tax Increment Financing (TIF).

At 7:38 AM the board considered the sale of land described as Lot 2 Block 2 of Harmony Industrial Park 1st Addition and Lot 2 Block 1 of Harmony Industrial Park 2nd Addition for development of an industrial building. Staff presented a 'but-for' letter to request TIF and draft purchase and development agreements for the project.

Greg Schieber, Committee member, said he and staff were discussing clarifications to the purchase and development agreements with Alex and Klayton Miner and that revised documents would be brought back to the EDA before any signatures are executed. Meghan Gill, Staff member, confirmed the drafts were on the table for review and that the EDA would see updated agreements at the next meeting.

No members of the public objected during the hearing. Stuart Morem, Committee member, moved to close the public hearing; Greg Schieber seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. The board did not take further action on the sale or the TIF request at the Oct. 3 meeting; members directed that the clarified agreements be presented for consideration at the Nov. 7 meeting.

The hearing materials included the TIF 'but-for' letter and draft purchase and development agreements. The EDA did not adopt or sign any development agreement on Oct. 3. The next opportunity for formal action on the Miners Underground proposal is the EDA's scheduled Nov. 7 meeting.
