The Hanover Park Board on Oct. 22 began firming up plans for its 2025 events calendar, directing members to gather entertainment ideas and asking staff to confirm community partners and logistics.
Chair Brandhorst opened the discussion and the board agreed that each member should bring five band suggestions for Concerts in the Park to the November meeting; the board also discussed offering a variety of food trucks and opening acts, with final programming details to be settled by the February meeting. Jenny Peterson, City Clerk/Assistant to the City Administrator, said staff would follow up on logistics and vendor contacts.
Board member Briana Rupenthal summarized the pumpkin-decorating event recap, saying, “set up in the garage went well for the event, however, attendance was light.” The board discussed moving Pumpkin Decorating in 2025 to the Saturday before Halloween to increase turnout and agreed to order sandwich-board signage to publicize the event. Peterson confirmed the Pumpkin Decorating event is proposed to take place in the old Public Works Garage at City Hall and that Hanover Royalty will be invited to attend.
For the Easter egg hunt, Peterson said staff will contact Influence Church about potential dates and assistance. On Kids Night, the board discussed ensuring sanitation stations will be available and left the final date to be decided by February. The board set internal deadlines for February to finalize event details and programming.
The board approved procedural items at the start of the meeting, and Peterson reported she had met with a Wright County SHIP representative to discuss grant funding opportunities that could support programming. Greg Zgutowicz, council liaison, briefly summarized recent council activity, including nominations for the Vitalization Award and a Fire Department open house.
The board will review band suggestions at its November meeting and expects to finalize event lineups and logistics in February.
