The Hanska City Council met Nov. 12 at the Hanska Community Center and moved through routine business, adopting a canvass of the recent election and agreeing to steps to ease online purchasing and rental cleanups.
Mayor Daniel Vee called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the council approved the agenda on a motion from Geiger, seconded by Larson. Council later approved the minutes from Oct. 14, 2024, and city claims after motions from Kjelshus (seconded by Miller and Geiger, respectively).
City Clerk Karen Haala introduced Resolution 2024-8, “Canvassing & Declaring Elections.” Larson moved to pass the resolution and Kjelshus seconded; the motion passed. The council did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes provided.
Haala also proposed that the city have a credit card for online purchasing; the council agreed to the idea. Separately, members discussed implementing a cleaning fee or deposit for clubhouse and community-center rentals after repeated instances of renters leaving facilities messy.
