Hanover planning commission administers oaths, elects leadership and debates Final Plat review

The Hanover Planning Commission sworn in three members and elected leadership at its Jan. 27 meeting. Jim Schendel, Cody Vojacek and Jason Mix each took the Oath of Office; commissioners then elected Stan Kolasa as chair and Jim Schendel as vice chair by unanimous votes.
During the citizen forum, residents raised procedural and housing concerns. Resident Laurel Prairie asked about a City Ordinance governing the timeline for comprehensive-plan amendment applications and provided a history of related emails to the commission. Resident Claudia Pingree said she has lived in Hanover 38 years and expressed concern about the lack of senior housing for residents who want to age in place.
City Administrator Jennifer Nash reported the city has been adding an extra layer of Final Plat review for recent subdivision applications that is not standard practice under City Code and asked whether the commission saw value in Planning Commission review in addition to staff and council confirmation of plat consistency with preliminary plats. Chair Stan Kolasa advised following standard Code processes and bringing only requests for changes back to the commission.
The meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m.; the minutes were attested by Jenny Peterson, City Clerk/Assistant to the Administrator.
