Harris council hires planner, adopts mitigation plan and approves grader contract; gravel funding authorized

The Harris City Council on March 10 voted to hire MSA for the city’s 2025 planning services and adopted Resolution 2025-02, the city’s mitigation plan, actions officials said are intended to support planning and emergency preparedness.
Councilmember Craig Moline moved to hire MSA for monthly planning services; Councilmember Garret Pearson seconded the motion and it carried with all members present voting in favor. Councilmember Al Siedow moved to adopt the mitigation plan (Resolution 2025-02); Pearson seconded and the council approved the resolution unanimously.
The council also handled several operational matters. Siedow moved to accept the resignation of Charles Mages effective Jan. 27, 2025; Pearson seconded and the motion carried. A separate motion to table sewer cleaning and televising until more information is available passed with unanimous support.
On road maintenance contracting, Moline moved to hire Muddy Gap Hollow, Inc. for grading and packing at $150 per hour; Pearson seconded and the council approved the contract. A subsequent motion by Moline to purchase two 18-yard gravel loads for Holman did not receive a second and therefore failed. Later in the meeting, Pearson moved and the council authorized Moline to spend up to $1,000 on gravel for Holman; Siedow seconded and the motion carried.
A special meeting to finalize hiring and make a final grader decision was set for Monday, March 17 at 5:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:53 p.m.
