Board hears facilities update: lab build, roofing and 15% solar savings

The director said the district will put roof projects for Stearns (asphalt shingles past their lifespan) and the Granite Street cafeteria out to bid in early April, and noted boiler upgrades and sewer-pump work are planned for the summer. He also discussed a pending fuel bid (scheduled the following Tuesday) and higher-than-usual fuel consumption this winter.
On energy, the director reported the district's solar agreement has produced about 15% monthly savings on utility costs, helping offset recent increases in energy bills; the district is committed to the existing solar contract for a multi-decade term discussed as roughly 20–25 years.
Board members requested follow-up on bid timing, project scopes and funding sources so that work can proceed over the summer recess.
