Spring Grove adopts ordinance regulating tetrahydrocannabinol products

The Spring Grove City Council on March 17 approved Resolution 26‑17 adopting Chapter 310, an ordinance regulating the sale of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) products in the city. The ordinance amendment extends regulation to include both low‑potency products and flower forms of THC.
During the public hearing, Laura Kubes asked council members for a brief synopsis of the ordinance. City Clerk/Administrator Jana Elton said retail operations must be located more than 500 feet from a park and 1,000 feet from a school, and the mayor noted the number of existing operations in the county can affect where a new business may locate. "It must be more than 500 feet from a park and 1,000 feet from a school," Elton said, summarizing the primary distance limits.
Following public comment and questions, Council Member Morgan Buckland moved to approve Resolution 26‑17; Council Member Eric Ostern seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance. The ordinance will govern local siting and sales of the specified THC products within Spring Grove.
