Atkinson's fire chief reported May 18 that local organizations donated equipment to the town's fire department, and the board voted to accept several items.
Fire Chief Andy Murphy told the Board of Selectmen that the Knights of Columbus donated a battery vent valued at $6,450; the Knights raised $5,000 of that by holding a golf tournament and plan another fundraiser on Aug. 14, 2026. The Atkinson Lions donated two Stop-the-Bleed MCI bags valued at $5,000.
Selectman Bill Friel moved to accept the Battery Vent donated by the Knights of Columbus. Selectman Greg Spero seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved accepting an Akron intake valve valued at $2,067.20 and a Fire Attack Hose valued at $8,699; those motions were made and seconded as recorded.
The donations increase the department's emergency-response inventory and were accepted as formal town property during the meeting.
