Council hears project updates: splash pad timing, home loan program closure and ambulance meeting

Councilmember Sue thanked volunteers for decorating Memorial Park and asked about when the lights are turned on and taken down; members discussed possibly leaving them lit an extra week and emphasized the role of volunteers for takedown. Sue said, “we were there today freezing to death but we got it done,” recognizing the committee’s work.
A council member recognized ambulance crew members in the audience and noted the city’s leadership would meet later that evening to discuss ambulance issues. The council did not take formal action on ambulance service during this meeting.
The council announced movie showings Nov. 22–24 and said all tickets are $5. The Eagles Club donated $500 toward the planned splash pad. City staff reported that site preparation will be delayed until spring to avoid a water-filled hole over winter; staff said the splash pad is expected to be ready for summer 2025.
Brianna reported that the St. James Home Improvement program has closed and is no longer accepting applications. She also flagged an upcoming housing summit/expo in December hosted by the EDA and regional partners aimed at bankers, developers and real-estate professionals.
A motion to adjourn carried and the meeting ended at about 5:52 p.m.
