The St. James City Council unanimously approved Resolution 11244 on Nov. 14, 2024, certifying the municipal election canvass from the Nov. 5 general election.
The council convened a special meeting at about 10:30 a.m. with a quorum present; Councilmember Hannah Rushing was noted as absent. The resolution lists the published vote totals included in the canvass: Christopher, 933 votes for mayor; Susan Craig, 649 votes for council member for Ward 1; and Stephen Lindy, 705 votes for Ward 2.
A council member moved to approve the results; Jean seconded and members agreed to dispense with reading the full resolution aloud. During the procedural exchange, a council member asked whether a member whose name appears on the canvass could vote on certification. The presiding official and other members indicated that the member could participate in the vote.
The presiding official called for the vote and the council signaled unanimous approval of Resolution 11244. The council then approved a motion to adjourn (mover: Paul; seconder: Sue) and closed the special meeting at approximately 10:35 a.m.
The certification records the canvass figures stated above in Resolution 11244; the transcript does not record a roll-call tally by name in open minutes beyond the announcement that the motion carried unanimously.
