The St. James City Council unanimously approved a special event permit on Nov. 19 for the Winter Carnival hosted by the St. James Chamber of Commerce, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14.
City staff said they had reviewed and approved the application and identified no pending items. The event will take place at multiple locations around town, include bonfires and a parade (parade start time announced as 6 p.m.), and requests a street closure between 7th Avenue South and 7th Street South on 1 Avenue South.
Council approved the permit by voice vote. The applicant is the St. James Chamber of Commerce; organizers and the city will follow standard event permitting requirements and any public-safety or traffic-control instructions from staff.
