St. James — The Water Department reported Oct. 15 that the state has accepted the city's lead-and-copper report. As required, staff will send letters to customers with known lead or galvanized service lines and to approximately 1,000 properties where the department does not have confirmed service material on file.
Bill, speaking for the Water Department, said five known customers will receive direct notices and that the larger mailout to roughly 1,000 properties is to request or inform those residents that their service-materal status is unknown and to provide City Hall as a point of contact for questions. He warned the council the mailings would likely generate resident inquiries and urged them to direct questions to City Hall.
