"For the month of April, we had 68 calls for service. And there were no arrests or citations," Mr. Ackerman told the council. He said the department is documenting ordinance violations and sent 23 first-letter violation notices and one second-letter notice during the reporting period.
Ackerman announced that the department has hired a part-time officer, Carly Caido, who previously served with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and is returning to the central Indiana area for family reasons. The announcement included the spelling and contact correction exchange recorded on the minutes.
On the drug take-back, Ackerman said the event satisfied the DEA's container requirement and "we did fill up a full box, about 30 pounds of drugs." He thanked residents for participating and said the town will hold another collection event in October.
Ackerman also previewed National Night Out planning for Aug. 4 and said the department is organizing a committee to expand the event.
