White told the council the department completed 362 total training hours during the reporting period — an average of about 17.26 hours per person — and that the department is 100% compliant with annual certification-hour requirements.
White also summarized a significant mutual-aid response on April 21, when Edgewood units assisted Lafayette Township at a brush fire that was upgraded to a working brush fire and required multiple agencies and extended field commitments. "Edgewood Fire Department personnel worked alongside multiple different agencies for several hours to contain the fire," White said.
Council discussion on the appointment was brief. The chair introduced the motion to appoint Daniels, saying he and others had reviewed Daniels' qualifications and background checks; a council member seconded the motion and the council voted by voice with no opposition recorded. The chair added that Dale (surname not specified on the record) will remain briefly to support the transition and that the appointing official would meet with department personnel following the meeting.
The council approved routine business later in the meeting, including the April meeting minutes and the May register of claims. The meeting adjourned after those votes.
What happens next: Officials said Daniels will begin immediately, and the chair indicated he would meet with department staff to reinforce the leadership transition and expectations.
