Separately, council members debated buying a hydrovac (hydro-vacuum) machine offered for $22,000. Supporters said the unit would reduce the need for contractors on certain water and sewer tasks, lower the risk of damaging buried utilities, and pay for itself over time. The council moved to purchase the unit and split the cost between the town's water and sewer funds; the motion passed by voice vote.
