Commission issues favorable recommendation for 758 Litchfield Road driveway safety improvements

Mitoja said the concern is not theoretical: he described a July crash in which his trailer was struck by a motorcycle while he was exiting the current driveway and said the rider subsequently died. He provided a sightline analysis, a survey and an appraisal and asked the commission to confirm the proposal does not conflict with the Plan of Conservation & Development (POCD). The commission reviewed the submission and voted to issue a favorable report that will be forwarded to the town council, the next decision point for sale or easement approval.
What happens next: The town council will consider the favorable POCD recommendation and decide whether to authorize sale or easement; DOT will not issue permits until town ownership or easement is resolved.
