St. James Park Board reviews 2026 park budgets, splash pad repairs and project priorities

City Manager Amanda Knoll briefed the Park Board on 2026 park-related finances and upcoming capital priorities at the March meeting.
Board members discussed the 2026 budgets for the park, campground and swimming pool. Knoll noted that funds earmarked for the Railroad Museum total $68,000, which includes amounts budgeted in 2026. Knoll also reported that the corrective action plan for deficiencies discovered at the splash pad was completed successfully at no additional cost to the city.
The board reviewed a list of future park projects and priorities: completion of the splash pad, a dog park lighting project, replacement of the pool slide, development of an inclusive park, outdoor pickleball courts and shade at the band shell. The board discussed scheduling and follow-up; Knoll said she will send calendar invites for the remaining 2026 meetings (standing meetings are set for the second Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. in February, April, May, June and September; the February meeting was missed and held in March).
