Etna Green to shift trash pickup to Wednesdays under new Apex contract

Etna Green council members agreed to switch the town's waste-hauling services to Apex and outlined a new pickup schedule for residents.
Officials said Apex will begin dropping off new bins on Dec. 22. Republic (the current hauler) will make final pickups on Dec. 29, 30 and 31; residents were told to have bins to the curb on those dates. The council indicated that trash pickup will move to Wednesday starting Jan. 7 and that recycling will be collected every other Monday, with the first recycling pickup scheduled for Jan. 12. Bulk pickup dates were listed as March 25, June 24, Sept. 28 and Dec. 16.
Town staff said they will send a reach alert and mail informational letters to residents so people know the new schedule and bulk rules. Under the new arrangement, residents who miss a pickup or who experience a service problem should call the clerk's office; staff said they will contact Apex on the resident's behalf.
