Flora — The council introduced James Wells as the new executive director of the Carol County Economic Development Corporation at the Sept. 8 meeting. Wells, who said he had been on the job about a month, described a background in urban planning and public service and said he had already begun touring the town and meeting local leaders.
"I'm looking forward to doing good work and working with y'all to uplift town Flora as well as the entire county of Carol," Wells said in his introduction. Council members welcomed him and asked brief questions about outreach plans; no formal action was required. Wells said he would continue meeting with local stakeholders and follow up on potential countywide economic-development initiatives.
