Etna Green council approves water-tower repairs, park equipment and furniture purchases

Etna Green ' The Etna Green Town Council on Nov. 11 voted to authorize necessary repairs and repainting of a water tower after reviewing an inspection and estimate. Line items presented included vent replacement ($7,500), an exterior roof ladder ($2,000), an overflow flapper valve screen repair ($1,500) and interior clean-up and touch-up (~$14,190) for an estimated total around $25,190.
Council members described the work as recurring and required maintenance to remain in state compliance. The council moved, seconded and approved the repair and repainting contract and agreed to move forward without waiting for the master utility study. Staff and consultants noted the water-tower project could be referenced in the overall master utility study for record-keeping and to support future funding requests.
Separately, staff reported park paving is complete and previewed phase-two and -three work. Council acknowledged receipt of a utility vehicle (“mule”) purchased by the K21 Foundation to support park maintenance and discussed possible repurposing of an unused softball diamond building for public restrooms and concessions. The council also approved replacement folding chairs and eight new tables for the community building and a conference table for an office space; funds for these purchases were available and some purchases timed to occur before year-end.
