Health Agent Dylan Lante briefed the board on a proposed shared-services arrangement called the Metaccom Health Alliance, a cooperative staffed out of a neighboring town that would provide backup public-health nurses and food-inspection coverage.
Dylan said the alliance told him the arrangement would impose no cost on Bellingham for the current fiscal year because funding is already in place, but that future participation would likely require a contribution. He advised the board the rough per-town figure discussed was about $10,000 and offered to obtain a memorandum of understanding and the detailed budget breakdown.
A representative named Ted Brand had been expected to attend but did not appear; staff will invite the representative to a future meeting so members can review the MOU and ask about staffing, scheduling and cost allocation. Board members supported receiving the written agreement and detailed cost figures before deciding whether to join.
