Heidelberg council approves 2026 property tax levy certification and routine claims

The Heidelberg City Council on Oct. 6 reviewed and approved the proposed 2026 Property Tax Levy Certification and submitted it to Le Sueur County as required.
During the meeting the council also approved the consent agenda and authorized payment of claims. A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Council Member Matt Graf, seconded by Randy Odenthal, and recorded as "Ayes — all." Later, a motion by Graf to approve the listed claims (including $66.44 for clerk expenses from May 2025 and $2,375.00 to Doug Fitzen for second‑half park mowing) was seconded by Randy Odenthal and likewise carried with all voting in favor.
The council discussed several ongoing administrative items under old business — including two properties with yard maintenance violations (one showing progress), continued review of city ordinances, planning for opening a 1976 time capsule, an outstanding permit payment for the Heidelberg Bar, and efforts to regain administrative control of the city's Google Console (Vivacity) with the city attorney assisting — but did not take additional formal action on those items at the Oct. 6 meeting.
The meeting adjourned after a motion by Council Member Rachel Meger, seconded by Ted Odenthal, which carried unanimously. The next regular meeting is Nov. 3, 2025.
